Frequently Asked Questions
We accept submissions of poetry, prose (fiction, non-fiction, flash fiction etc) and visual art.
Nope! We want Tonic to be accessible to anybody that wants to send us their work.
Each submitter can submit three times in the poetry and prose categories. The word limit for prose is 5000 words. The line limit for poetry is 40 lines. Visual artists can submit up to ten pieces.
We are dedicated to giving feedback and the workshopping process. We encourage submitters who would like feedback to donate to the Tonic Review by buying us a coffee (not actually, it's a website). While it's absolutely not required to receive feedback, these donations help us to host readings, attend events and print issues.
No we don't :( the Tonic Review is a student run, unfunded project and we are unable to pay our contributors for their work.
Currently, our editorial staff is based in Cardiff and primarily Cardiff University students. If you are interested in joining our staff, applications open in the summer. We hire prose editors and poetry editors once per year. We are also looking for resident visual artists to contribute regularly to the magazine. If you are an artist and are interested, please reach out to editortonicmag@gmail.com
Issues of the Tonic Review can be viewed online for free or purchased from MagCloud !
This system works best with PayPal (like this was the only way it would let us order). We are working towards a UK based distributor, but for now, try PayPal :(
Yes we do! If you would like to help out The Tonic Review, you can buy us a coffee (not actually, it's a website). These donations help us to host readings, attend events and print issues.
